Yes, but for areas above 2,000 feet, suggest checking if there is sufficient gas and water supply.

Gas regulator is quickly connected. The water Inlet and outlet are both 1/2'' BSP thread size.

Can it be mounted sideways, or does it have to be mounted upright?

Can't be mounted sideways due to heat venting from the top.

How can I prevent leaking where the hose and the shower head?

Add a gasket between the shower and the hose, taking care that the water pressure should not be too high.
