What do the different icons (sun, lightning bolt) in the Ring app indicate?
The sun icon means the solar panel is connected. The lightning bolt means it is actively charging. Official Ring chargers show the lightning bolt constantly. Our charger shows it only when sunlight is present?providing a more accurate reading.
Why does the battery status in the Ring App sometimes appear inaccurate or delayed?
The Ring App has a known delay in updating battery status. For the most accurate reading, tap into the "VIEW" option, let it update, and repeat a few times. Closing and reopening the app can also help refresh the status.
Do I need to fully charge the doorbell battery before using your solar charger?
Yes, it is recommended. If the internal battery is fully depleted, the solar charger cannot recharge it. Solar charging mainly slows battery drain. Starting with a full charge ensures longer, more reliable operation.
Will the solar charger stop working when the battery level is above 90%?
Yes, for some Ring models this is an official overcharge protection feature. When the battery is above 90%, the solar charger will not actively charge to protect battery life. Note that this does not apply to all Ring models.
What do you recommend if a user experiences battery drain?
Observe for a few more days, especially after the battery drops below 90%,to see if it continues to drop. Track daily sunlight and usage. With 2?3 hours of sunlight per day, the battery should not drop significantly.
