Our Recommendation

The Canoe knife gets its name from the handle, which resembles the shape of a canoe. The Baby Butterbean is a smaller version of the Canoe knife. This collection features Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel or Chrome Vanadium folding blades with bone or synthetic handles. These knives come equipped with Spear and Pen blades on opposing ends. These knives are great for multi-purpose use around the house or outdoors. Available in two sizes: x-small and small.

W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company is an American manufacturer of premium, hand-crafted knives. Based in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Case’s offerings cover a wide range of product categories, from traditional folding pocket knives and fixed blade sporting knives to limited production commemorative and collectibles. The company began in 1889 where four brothers - William Russell (W.R.), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. Today, Case is owned by Zippo Manufacturing Company, makers of one of the world famous Zippo windproof lighter.

Quality

Our Canoes and Baby Butterbeans come in two different sizes.

1) X-Small - 2.75 inches.

2) Small - 3.63 inches.

The Spear blade is symmetrically shaped with a point that is in line with the center of the blade. This blades sharp point provides strength, durability, and ease of use. It effortlessly pierces and stabs while its small cutting edge can slice through objects.

The Pen blade is similar to a spear point or drop point blade but is much smaller. The pen blade is great for small detailed uses, especially for everyday use such as opening envelopes and boxes.

Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel (SS) is a special high-carbon steel that helps the blades hold an edge. It also offers extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance.

Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish.

Blades are honed at an inclusive angle of 35° - 45° from the factory. Maintaining a constant angle, hold the blade 17° - 22° from the surface of a sharpening stone and stroke the blade as if shaving a thin layer from the stone. Repeat the stroking motion along the entire edge of the blade starting at the blade heel and working to the tip. Turn the blade over and repeat the process.

Using a small drop of oil, wipe down the joints, blades, and handles. The inside of knife can be cleaned with cotton-tipped swabs and wooden tooth picks. To remove any adhesive tape on your knife, apply nail polish remover or lighter fluid to a soft cloth to easily remove the residue. Rusting may occur to older knives. Rust spots on older knives should be oiled well and the knife should be allowed to sit for a few days. Carefully, scrape away the rust spot with the tip of a sharp, stiff knife.

Case Honing Oil.

This honing oil is made especially for re-sharpening knives. The main features of this honing oil are: (1) protect the sharpening stone, (2) carry away debris, and (3) produce a keen edge on a metal blade such as a knife.
